23“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

This passage seems to haunt me at times. I’ll be trying to pray or read my Bible, but be completely distracted by a situation where there is a conflict with another person. Of course, my first reaction when this passage comes to mind is to blow it off and just think “It’s not that bad”. Pride. When it would be so easy to just go to the person and even if they don’t have a clue just to say something. Often I don’t even have to broach the subject and they either bring it up or the first words out of their mouths makes things right. But getting beyond the pride part–eating humble pie–is the hardest step!
