Read God’s word and think about our main point—are you doing what God has asked of you?
Matthew 22:34-40 (NIV from Bible Gateway.com)
The Greatest Commandment
34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

I think it is so interesting how complex we make out our faith. And here Jesus just says it simply and succinctly. I know I have often tried to bargin with God or make it more complex than that, but it simply comes down to loving God and loving others. That’s it. I know I may not hit the mark everyday, but I sure am trying. Help me to love You more God and your children.

How true. By making it complex it might some how relieve us of our “duty”. (I use duty because I can’t think of a better word at the moment.) Simple isn’t always easy though. That’s probably where your prayer in the last line of your comment hits home for me.
